Pink-footed Goose, Upton Warren

Absurd really to come and see one when I’ll see thousands at Martin Mere tomorrow on my way up to Glasgow. But it’s another tick for the Worcs list, and relaxing in the Bittern hide is a fine thing. Even though neither bittern has shown, nor any jack snipe. Still, a splendid kingfisher pops up periodically. That’s the beauty of the Moors Pool.

  • Two hours later in the gloaming I got lucky when one of the bitterns flew low across the Pool and it even added a magnificent display of shit – almost luminescent in the fading light. All that from the Lapwing hide. And lapwings too.
